5 apps to make you more efficient

If your phone or tablet is anything like mine it’s probably full of fun but fairly useless apps.

If your phone or tablet is anything like mine it’s probably full of fun but fairly useless apps. We’ve scoured the internet and found our 5 favourite apps that will help you become more efficient, and the best bit is, they’re almost all free:

CardCam

CardCam allows you to digitalise your business cards. Typing up details from every business card you receive can end up being a job in itself, and often won’t get done. So, what’s the solution? CardCam takes pictures of business cards then stores the relevant information in your phone (and across any devices you sync). You can even take it a step further and add your new contacts on LinkedIn.

Waze

If your satnav struggles to keep you up-to-date with traffic information, then Waze is the app for you. Waze is a community based app, where users input a variety of travel information, from congestion information to road works and where you can find the cheapest petrol. Plus, when things are getting busy it will redirect you.

AroundMe

AroundMe is great for anyone who finds themselves out on the road needing petrol, a caffeine fix or somewhere to park. This app uses your location to show results of local services. Just download the app, select the service you need, and AroundMe will find the nearest and most convenient service for you.

Doodle

We all spend too much time trying to find diary space across multiple colleagues calendars to book a simple in house meeting. So, when you’re trying to arrange a time to meet with customers or prospects it becomes a nightmare. Doodle sends a poll specifying your availability, then recipients can then let you know whether they’re busy, free or available if needed. Gone are the lengthy emails trying to arrange your meetings.

Mailbox

Mailbox is currently only supported by Gmail, Yahoo and iCloud accounts, but it’s great so I thought it was still worth a mention. Plus, I’m crossing my fingers that it will work with Outlook soon.

There is an all too familiar scenario where you receive an email and think ‘that’s interesting, I’ll look at it later’ or ‘I really need to remember to deal with that’, but almost always forget. With Mailbox, on receiving an email, you can just swipe left and choose a time for Mailbox to remind you about your emails, whether it’s later that day, tomorrow or a specific date and time. This app will help you deal with the emails that demand your immediate attention, but not let you forget about the ones you’re actually interested in.

A lack of time and resource is a clear problem within businesses and without improving the efficiency of your processes it always will be.
